The History of High Impact Outreach Ministries

Seeking God's Face, Reflecting God's Glory

High Impact Ministry began as a longing in the hearts of Bill and Ronda Hastings to touch
people with the love of God. They had a deep desire to reach out beyond the walls of the
church building to touch others with the Gospel message. The challenge was that they did not
know how.

Ronda was intrigued when she saw a book called “Becoming a Contagious Christian”, by Bill Hybels and Mark Mittelberg.

Reading that book changed her life by helping
her discover various styles and methods of evangelism.

The History of High Impact Outreach Ministry

In 2003,

Bill and Ronda began ministering to people on the streets of Oakland, California, starting with a food ministry for the unhoused and day laborers. Their efforts grew as they built a team of Christians, delivering coffee, donuts, and lunches every Friday, and expanding into Bible Studies and Christmas events for the community.

In May 2004,

High Impact Outreach Ministries became incorporated in California. Their vision included creating a coalition of churches working together to plan and implement
outreach events with maximum impact. They started a prison ministry and taught and led workshops at conferences and local churches. Together, they worked to develop creative outreaches in the community.

In November
2005,

High Impact Outreach Ministries received their 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt status from the federal government.

In 2020,

health issues caused them to reduce the number of activities led through High Impact Outreach Ministries.

On August 14, 2024,

Bill went home to be with the Lord after an intense battle with kidney cancer. Through the grieving process, Ronda sought the Lord for direction for her life after such a devastating loss.

In December of 2025,

The Lord made it clear that He was
calling her back to the ministry she had started with her beloved husband. She immediately began rebuilding and reactivating High Impact Outreach Ministries.
